At the beginning of any new school year there is the expectation that many students will have experienced some learning loss since they were not actively engaging with math learning and practice during the summer break.

As the school year gets underway across the county many school districts are continuing with remote learning. These tips are targeted towards remote implementation, but will continue to be useful if you transition into a hybrid or in-person model in the coming months. 

When using Knowre Math in a hybrid learning environment students should use the program when they are working separately from their teacher. During times when students and teachers are together, we recommend using the data provided on the Teacher Dashboard to drive work with individual students or the whole class. 

We are excited to announce these updates and enhancements that are coming to your Knowre Math experience for the 2020-2021 school year. These developments are the direct result of administrator, teacher and student feedback and questions. We are excited that they are nearly in your hands. 

At the beginning of each school year, teachers and students engage in activities and conversations which are designed to set expectations. In many elementary school classrooms, processes and procedures are not only introduced, but actively practiced again and again.

Often during this time, little to no academic content is being taught. These efforts, though time consuming, create an environment in which learning can occur because everyone knows how to interact and behave within the classroom. This time spent at the beginning of the school year typically reaps dividends as the year progresses.

In the immense plethora of emotions and things to deal with during this time, we at Knowre want to help where we can.  

Personalized learning (however you may define it) is a fundamental tenet of what we strive to accomplish through Knowre Math. Our goal is to mirror the one-on-one interaction between a student and a teacher as much as possible.

Knowre’s mission is to enhance and support learning by using technology to personalize education for students.  Therefore, during this challenging time, Knowre has announced today that we will be offering Knowre Math free to all teachers, schools, and districts in the US who need additional support addressing the needs of each of their students and with distance learning during school closures.  

Today, February 27th, marks the ninth annual celebration of Digital Learning Day.

According to the Digital Learning Day organization, "Digital Learning Day was started as a way to actively spread innovative practices and ensure that all youth have access to high-quality digital learning opportunities no matter where they live."

Today, Feb 11th, we observe and celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science declared by UN Women and UNESCO.

According to UNESCO, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science represents "an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls." Furthermore, "gender equality is a global priority for UNESCO, and the support of young girls, their education and their full ability to make their ideas heard are levers for development and peace." 

Today, January 24th, 2020, marks the second annual observance of the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization)-declared International Day of Education. On this day we reflect on how we can all contribute towards empowering the world through education.

According to UNESCO, "the 2020 celebration will position education and the learning it enables as humanity’s greatest renewable resource and reaffirm the role of education as a fundamental right and a public good. It will celebrate the many ways learning can empower people, preserve the planet, build shared prosperity and foster peace."
